Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

Detectives with the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, a component of the Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team (MAGNET), have been conducting an investigation into allegations of methamphetamine distribution throughout Lake Havasu City.

On August 21, 2026, at approximately 3:18 p.m., detectives conducted a traffic stop in the area of Highway 95 and Palo Verde Boulevard North. During the stop, LHCPD K-9 “Echo” conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotic odors.

A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 82.4 grams of methamphetamine in multiple small plastic bags along with a digital scale. The street value of the methamphetamine is estimated at $4,120.

As a result of the investigation, Kelly Winnie, a 54-year-old Lake Havasu City resident, was arrested and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs for Sale and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. During her initial court appearance, Kelly was issued a $25,000 secured bond and was subsequently transported to the Mohave County Detention Facility.
