LAUGHLIN CHAMBER’S CD5KW RAISES OVER 15K FOR THE RIVER FUND INC. CANCER CONNECTION – BLOWING LAST YEARS TOTALS OUT OF THE WATER!

Through the rain and sunshine, over 540 participants walked for the cause!

The 6TH Annual Connie Davis 5k Walk & Roll was held on Saturday, March 2nd at the Pyramid Canyon day use area of North Reach Heritage Trails. Despite the morning being met with a mild downpour, over 540 participants registered to support the cause!

Shortly after the walk began, the sun came out from behind the clouds. Participants enjoyed the cool sounds of Billy Kay while eating breakfast before the walk (provided by Cinnabon) and a picnic lunch (provided by the Laughlin Tourism Commission) after the walk. Other activities included painting rocks (donated by Star Nursery) for the Tree of Hope & Life Memorial Garden (with Bullhead City Rocks leading the way) and various local business information booths such as Planet Fitness, Harrah’s Laughlin & Findlay Motor Company. Loke, from Cameron Broadcasting’s The Knack 107.1, narrated the morning and assisted in the raffle and gathering those still in attendance for the Human Cancer Ribbon Drone Shot; captured by Chad Graham of TV2 KLBC. Official Event Photographer, Leslie Chester of Firafly Photography followed behind the walkers to capture the best moments of the day! Leslie’s images from the The Connie Davis 5k Walk & Roll for Cancer can be downloaded FREE here: https://www.firaflyphotography.com/cdwalkforcancer

A trophy was then presented to the largest team in participation – The Golden Nugget Laughlin, with 102 walkers; topping the Tropicana’s “Trop Walkers” at 87 walkers followed by Golden Entertainment at 46 walkers, Volunteers In Partnership with 39 walkers, Team Patty with 26 walkers, and Harrah’s Laughlin with 25 walkers! Anyone can create a team! And we invite companies, organizations, neighbors and clubs to gather their colleagues, family and friends to make this an awesome annual tradition! The “roll”, added to the name of the walk last year, emphasizes participation by those who are handicapped – whether they are assisted by someone else or rollin’ on their own! Join a team and come out for the 7thAnnual Connie Davis 5K Walk & Roll next March!

The 15k raised is comprised of each participants $25 entry fee; which includes a t-shirt and goodie bag (while supplies last.) All proceeds from this event are donated to the River Fund Inc. Cancer Connection; which provides continuous support to those who are fighting to beat the odds within our Colorado River Region. We are also accepting donations from those who were unable to attend and those who wish to donate more to help make the lives of those affected a little easier. The final 15k check will be presented at the Laughlin Chamber’s Hello Spring Backyard Mixer, to be held April 12thfrom 5-7 PM at the Laughlin Chamber!
