KINGMAN–Authorities are investigating the death of a local man after he died from injuries sustained in a reported assault last week.

Steven Paul Madrid, 27, of Kingman died on Friday in Las Vegas as a result of blunt force trauma to his head.

Madrid was found Tuesday by his girlfriend on the ground, and unresponsive, outside an apartment in the 1000 block of Beverly Avenue, said Kingman Police Deputy Chief Rusty Cooper.

Cooper said the girlfriend reported she had answered a knock in the early morning hours on Tuesday and Madrid had exited the apartment to speak with a male subject. Several minutes later the girlfriend reportedly found Madrid lying on the ground, bleeding from his ears and having difficulty breathing.

He was taken to Kingman Regional medical Center and later to University Medical Center in Las Vegas with a life threatening injury to his head.

On Friday, said Cooper, he died from those injuries.

Kingman Police are actively investigating the assault and death. No suspects have been located at this time and a reward of $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and apprehension of those responsible.
