Local Volunteers Help Turn Havasu Red, White and Blue

Since July 2000, Kiwanis Club members, along with volunteer partners from the local high school booster club, have placed a 3′ x 5′ American Flag in front of local homes and businesses, seven times a year, including this year’s Memorial Day holiday.

Pictured  is volunteer Jim Rosensweet, after installing one of 698 flags put out by over 27 teams with over 50 people during the early morning hours on Monday, in order for program subscribers to wake up to a flag in their yard. This patriotic distribution occurs seven times a year throughout Lake Havasu City, including President’s Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, 9/11 Patriot Day, Veteran’s Day and Pearl Harbor Day.

To participate in the Flag Program, homeowners submit an annual $40 donation, as well as permission for the installation of a small PVC receptacle in their front yard. The program benefits the Lake Havasu High School Booster Club and Girl Scouts, as well as many other worthwhile programs that Kiwanis supports in our community.
