LOIS J. ALLEN
Lois J. Allen, age 81, a resident of Laughlin, Nev., passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. She was born on April 14, 1936 in Kansas City, Mo.
Lois started her early career in computers working as a programmer for the state of Alaska in the late 1950’s. After returning to California in the late 60’s, she worked in programming and systems analysis for Ampex in the San Francisco Bay Area and later, Singer, Kearfott Division in San Diego County. During the 70’s and 80’s she worked for NCR in San Diego as a programmer and IT support specialist. Her work took her throughout the world including Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Columbia, Spain, Greece, England and Ireland.
She was an an accomplished bowler, ‘green thumb’ gardener, and active person who loved the outdoors; rafting, camping and exploring the American Southwest. She was an avid white water river runner, rafting throughout the west with trips on the Green (Desolation Canyon), Yampa, Rio Grande, Dolores, and San Juan rivers as well as the Colorado through the Grand Canyon.
Lois is survived by her husband of 58 years, Terry; daughter, Linda (Chuck) Netherland of California; son, Tim of Laughlin, Nevada; brother, Jim Fly of California; four grandchildren, Lindsey, Jacob, Leah and Ben who will miss her wit and wisdom.
