Just after noon on Thursday (10/19), the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a 60-year-old male who had been riding his dirt bike and exploring areas and had become lost. He had started earlier in the morning in Standard Wash, just south of Lake Havasu City, but had became turned around and just not sure which direction to continue. Using a locator request for the SARTopo mapping program used by Search and Rescue, he responded – giving rescue teams immediate access to his location. Search and Rescue began a route and location search towards him and located him in the Mohave Wash, about 2 1/2 miles north of the Bill Williams River. He was almost out of fuel and out of water, but glad to see rescuers. He was led back out to safety. Great job by everyone!
