Dear Editor,

On Saturday, June 2, 2018 the Bullhead City Police Department was notified that 8 year old Jeremy Duncan was missing from his family home.  The police department immediately began searching for Jeremy. The search was expanded to include various public safety agencies from around the County and State and up to 1,000 volunteers. Unfortunately this search ended tragically with the discovery of Jeremy’s body in the Colorado River on the morning of Sunday, June 3, 2018.

As the Bullhead City Chief of Police, and on behalf of the entire police department, I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to Jeremy’s friends and family.  The heart of this community aches with you.

I appreciate the support of all of the involved public safety organizations to include the Bullhead City Fire Department, Arizona Department of Public Safety, Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, FBI, Yucca Fire Department, Arizona CART (Child Abduction Response Team) and all of the various departments of the City of Bullhead City.

I offer my sincere thanks to the community members and businesses of Bullhead City, Arizona and Laughlin, Nevada. The police department cannot conduct an operation of this size and complexity without the support of the community. As always, this community stepped up to assist in any way possible. Although a tragic event, it is heartwarming to see people responding in droves as individuals, groups and families ready to face the harsh elements to assist in the search for Jeremy.  Having you all as part of our team makes all of the difference in the world.

Along with individuals, businesses in both communities immediately mobilized and provided much needed water, sports drinks, and food to help keep the public safety professionals and volunteers hydrated and fueled for the mission. The businesses in this community never cease to amaze and are listed below:

Aquarius Casino Resort, Assembly of God River Chapel, Bullhead City Morning Kiwanis, Chili’s, Collianno’s, Colorado Belle Hotel Casino Resort, Don Laughlin’s Riverside Resort & Casino, Donuts to Go, Fast Auto Loans, Java Jitters/CoVue, Kelly Applewhite Farmers Insurance, Larry Tunforss, Palo Verde Foot & Ankle, Papa John’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, Safeway, Salvation Army, Sam’s Club, Starbucks, Walmart Supercenter #1370, Walmart Supercenter #4203 and Western Arizona Regional Medical Center.

Please accept my apologies if there are citizens or businesses who are not included in the list above.  It is not my intention to offend anyone by not acknowledging their donation.  Please know that we appreciated everything that was donated.

The Bullhead City Police Department salutes this community for its dedication and support!

Sincerely,

Brian K. Williamson

Chief of Police
