LUPE VALDOVINO MELENDEZ

Lupe Valdovino Melendez, age 86, an 11-month resident of Fort Mohave, Ariz., passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2017. She was born on December 12, 1930 in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Lupe retired from Macy’s Department Stores and was past president of Our Lady of Guadalupe Society-St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, La Mirada, Calif., and a volunteer at Good Sam Pantry-Beautitudes of Our Lord Catholic Church, La Mirada, Calif. She lived 57 years in La Mirada prior to moving to Fort Mohave.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Amalia and Joaquin Valdovino; brother, Frank Valdovino; and sister, Virginia Diaz.

Lupe is survived by her husband, Auscencio Melendez of Fort Mohave, Ariz.; two daughters, Rosemary (Peter) Huppert of Fort Mohave, Ariz and Margaret Rich of Boise, Idaho; son, Steven Hormel of Tracy, Calif.; sisters, Mary Ellen Mieras of Grants, N.M. and Florence Kahklen of Eagle Rock, Ark.; brother, Ernie Valdovino of Flagstaff, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Mary Huppert of Montebello, Calif. and Lisa Rich of Newport, Wash.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Keith Kenny officiating.
