Man Arrested for Felony Criminal Damage at Local Businesses

Bullhead City, AZ., – March 4, 2021 – Bullhead City Police arrested Jason Robert Morello, 36, for committing criminal damage at several local businesses for no apparent reason.

On Wednesday, March 3rd, EPCOR water was notified of an alarm at their water tank yard near Hillview Drive and Rolling Hills Road. EPCOR water employees and Bullhead City Police responded and discovered about $4,000 worth of damage done to the water utility tanks, which are enclosed in a secured fence. While on scene, a male was seen walking away from the area. When the officer attempted to stop the man, he took off running into the desert area. He was apprehended and was found in possession of some fuses that were attached to the water tanks.

Officers were familiar with the man, Jason Morello, due to prior police contacts and he was suspected of other recent criminal damage cases at local businesses. When Morello was taken into custody, he had a severe burn on his hand. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Last week, Morello was suspected of damaging an electric box at Hobby Lobby, causing about $1,500 worth of damage. A Mohave Electric Cooperative employee indicated that the person who cut the volt line would have received a serious burn injury. Other businesses in the area also reported telecommunication lines were cut.

Bullhead City Police have previously arrested Morello for similar crimes. In December, 2020, Morello broke water spigots and turned on water valves at dozens of businesses along the highway for no apparent reason. On Wednesday, Morello was booked into the Mohave County Jail in Kingman on felony charges of criminal damage and burglary. Additional charges are pending.
