KINGMAN–A Kingman man was burned and three of his dogs died overnight in a house fire in the 900 block of Center Street.

Emergency crews with Kingman Fire arrived on scene of the structure fire shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday night and found the flames and smoke exiting the single story family home, said KFD Asst. Chief Keith Eaton.

As firefighter’s began an aggressive attack against the billowing structure, other fire personnel were informed by neighbors that a man and his dogs lived at the home, but it was unknown if he was inside.

Firefighter’s attempted to make entry into the home through the front door, where they found the man lying on the floor, blocking the door and access to the home, said Eaton. Crews removed the door and quickly began treating the man for injuries. He was taken to Kingman Regional Medical Center and later flown to a Las Vegas hospital for further treatment.

Three of the victims six dogs died in the fire, said Eaton. Two escaped without injury and one was resuscitated by firefighters at the scene using the Fido Bag, which is a specialized oxygen treatment for animals.

Fire crews were able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading into any other areas of the home or to nearby structures. The cause and total loss of the fire remains under investigation with Kingman Fire.
