MOHAVE VALLEY-The body of an unidentified man was pulled out of the Colorado River north of Pirate’s Cove on Saturday, authorities report.
Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said deputies were dispatched to the north area of Pirate’s Cove shortly before noon Saturday in reference to a possible deceased person in the water.
“Deputies were immediately able to identify the item floating in the river as a deceased male subject,” said Mortensen. “They made contact with the reporting party, who had seen the body floating and immediately contacted 9-1-1 and remained idling near the body to assist law enforcement in locating it.”
The deceased male was removed from the river.
The male appeared to be wearing a black tank top, black pants and black sneaker-style shoes. He may be of the Native American decent, approximately 240 pounds and about 6’ 3” tall, she said.
“Several tattoos were found on the body, but deputies were unable to identify what they were due to decomposition. It appeared to deputies that the body had been in the water for about three days,” she said.
Deputies were unable to identify the deceased male, as they did not locate any identification on or near the body. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office at 928-753-0753.
