Kingman, AZ – Sunday afternoon at 4:20 p.m. 601 Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC) members in the Hualapai region, unincorporated area south of Kingman, lost power when
electrical equipment, an arrestor, performed as expected. Crew members replaced the arrestor along with a fuse and restored power to 600 members by 5:44 p.m.. Electric utility systems use arrestors as system protection devices. Specifically, an arrestor provides protection similar to a household power strip / surge protector to avoid damaging
electric equipment.

The final member’s power was restored by 7:40 p.m. after crews completed a step restoral. Please call our toll-free line at 1-844-632-2667, text “outage” to 55050 from a number linked to your MEC account, or use our SmartHub application on your mobile device or desktop if you are experiencing an outage.

Founded in 1946, Mohave Electric Cooperative is a not-for-profit utility providing reliable, cost- effective power to 36,700 members, 43,500 meters, with more than 1,555 miles of line spanning areas from Bullhead City to Topock on the west, Hualapai to Burro Creek to the south, and Nelson to the east. MEC is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
