Memorial Day Waterways Recap

Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Division of Boating Safety experienced a busy Memorial Day weekend. Deputies issued 8 misdemeanor citations for reckless operation of a watercraft, made one arrest for Operating a Watercraft Under The Influence, issued 12 citations for boating violations, assisted 28 boaters for various reasons, and made 240 boater contacts.

Deputies also investigated 2 non-injury boat crashes, and one injury boat crash where a subject suffered injuries from a propeller. Deputies, along with onboard River Medical Paramedics, responded to 10 medical assists. Of those, 4 patients were stabilized and transported by Patrol boats to awaiting ambulances.

During the weekend there was a significant amount of boat traffic, but most boaters showed responsible operation, which led to a lower number of incidents. We would like to thank everyone for showing responsible watercraft operation throughout the holiday weekend. Our lakes and rivers are a beautiful part of our county and we appreciate the efforts shown by all to enjoy them.
