Mobile Home Fire

On September 14, 2021, at approximately 4:00 PM, Bullhead City Fire  crews responded to a reported structure fire on the 1800 block of El Monte Dr. Engine 761’s crew arrived first on the scene, reporting heavy black smoke and fire coming from a single wide mobile home. Quickly confirming that all of the occupants had safely evacuated the home, the crew began an aggressive fire attack.  Battalion Chief Queen arrived on the scene assuming command, directing all of the other incoming units. Crews were able to swiftly extinguish the fire, transitioning into the salvage and overhaul process.

The Red Cross was contacted to assist the occupants, as the home was deemed uninhabitable. No injuries were reported during the incident; the total response included E711, E721, E761, Bat7, and M711. The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.

However, we would like to remind citizens to be aware of their home’s electrical amperage. Most new homes have an electrical service of between 100 to 200 amps. Amperage is a measurement of the volume of electricity flowing through wires, and this measurement can vary in very old homes that have not been updated. It is very easy to overload your electrical system with today’s technology by simply plugging in extra electronic items such as cell phones and laptops. We recommend always checking with a certified electrician before adding any electrical upgrades to your home. Overloading your home’s electrical capacity should never occur.
