The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to deal with COVID issues in the Kingman jail. The Adult Detention facility identified 16 COVID positive inmates this week. Captain Bob Vollbracht said two inmates began reporting COVID-like symptoms during the early hours of Wednesday (10/27). The two inmates were immediately tested with rapid collection test kits which revealed that they were COVID positive.

The remaining 34 inmates located in the housing unit were tested Wednesday and 14 of them tested positive. All 16 positive inmates were moved to a different housing unit and were housed under quarantine protocols.

The Adult Detention Facility has now experienced 134 positive inmate cases and 46 positive staff cases since May 2020. Since that date, over 3,276 inmates have been tested for COVID-19. To date, none of the positive inmates have had symptoms requiring them to be hospitalized. The Adult Detention Facility offers COVID-19 vaccines to all inmates and to date they have vaccinated over 250 inmates.
