Mohave County Corner ~ August edition

It is always a pleasure to be able to share what is happening in our office and Mohave County. I have recently been able to attend several events that are exciting to our communities. It provides an opportunity to connect with you and to have one on one conversations to hear your opinions and how your elected officials can better serve you. One of the best events was the ground breaking ceremony of the new three billion dollar solar powered data center

south of Kingman nicknamed “The Hive.” The ground breaking ceremony included keynote speakers, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York and Life Coach, Tony Robbins. I believe this truly puts Mohave County on the map and there will be more exciting growth for our communities. Our County Economic Development Director, Tami Ursenbach has been working tirelessly to bring new opportunities to Mohave County.

Bullhead City also recently hosted Senator McSally at the Bullhead Chamber of Commerce and provided an opportunity to ask questions of the Senator. Issues discussed were the city land exchange, veteran affairs, immigration, gun violence and the burro overpopulation. Bullhead City was also the host of the quarterly Tri-City Council, which includes the mayors and governing representatives from Bullhead City, Lake Havasu City and Kingman. It provides an opportunity to hear updates on issues impacting municipalities from local and state agencies.

The new $30 recording fee which was effective July 1st has greatly streamlined document recordings and made it easier for customers to understand what recordings cost, rather than a convoluted fee schedule. This was done statewide for all counties as has been the case in the past.

We are also gearing up for the elections for Bullhead City and Kingman Unified School District this November 5th. You need to be registered to vote by October 7th in order to receive your ballot. Both will be all mail elections so look for your ballot in the mail after October 9th if you live in these districts. You can register online at

or at our office in Kingman, the libraries or post offices.

As always, thank you for the honor of being your Mohave County Recorder. Next month’s article will be with your County Treasurer, Cindy Landa Cox.
