Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Officer-Involved Shooting Update

Lake Havasu City Police Department detectives continue to investigate the officer involved shooting incident that occurred in Kingman, Arizona on April 17, 2021. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Officer involved in the shooting is identified as Deputy Matthew Farney. Deputy Farney has been employed with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office since 2013, and has been a sworn officer for over five years. Deputy Farney was not wearing a body-worn camera at the time of the shooting.

The man fatally injured during the shooting incident was identified as 29–year old Kingman resident, Bradley Michael Rose.

Deputies initially attempted to stop Rose for several traffic violations and he led them on a slow speed pursuit which was terminated by the deputies due to Rose driving erratically into on-coming traffic. Shortly after, Rose was again observed continuing to drive in an unsafe manner on North Stockton Hill Rd., and he rammed a Mohave County Sheriff’s Office vehicle with his vehicle. Deputies initiated a second low speed pursuit which continued until Rose pulled into a residence in the 1100 block of McVicar Ave. When Deputy Farney attempted to take Rose into custody, he physically resisted, punching the deputy in the face. A struggle ensued over the deputy’s firearm, and Deputy Farney fired four shots from his duty handgun striking Rose. Rose was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries after lifesaving efforts failed.

This investigation is still ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
