LAKE HAVASU CITY–A 60-year-old woman died Monday night after reportedly being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Kiowa Boulevard North and Date Palm Drive.
Lake Havasu Police spokesman Sgt. Tom Gray said officers responded to the area shortly after 8 p.m. for a report of a collision involving a passenger car and two motorcycles.
A Subaru Cross Trek, driven by a 24-year-old woman from Flagstaff, was reportedly traveling eastbound on Kiowa Boulevard North when she attempted to make a left turn on to Date Palm Drive, said Gray. She reportedly failed to yield to the right-of-way and drove into the path of two motorcycles traveling westbound on Kiowa Boulevard North.
The woman on the motorcycle died at the scene. Her identity has yet to be released by police officials.
The second motorcycle rider, the victim’s 61-year-old husband, was taken to the local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both were part-time residents of Lake Havasu City and were reportedly professional test riders.
Gray said both motorcyclists were wearing protective riding gear and a helmet.
The accident remains under investigation and no citations have been issued. Police state there is no indication that speed or impairment were a factor in the fatal crash.
