Overview

Project Cost: $1.1 million

The Arizona Department of Transportation is starting a project to build a new bridge on Antares Road over Truxton Wash, approximately eight miles north of Historic Route 66 in Mohave County. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2023.

The $1.1 million project will provide an all-weather, composite arch bridge (CAB) crossing for Antares Road over Truxton Wash. This is the first CAB to be constructed in Arizona.

Antares Road is currently an unpaved dirt roadway crossing the Truxton Wash, and is subject to frequent storm-driven closures. The bridge will eliminate a near 29-mile detour during smaller storm events.

Project Overview

The scope of work includes:

  • Installing a new, single span bridge that is 35-feet wide and 29-feet long.
  • Installing approach roadway embankment, mechanically stabilized earth walls, aggregate base, pavement, signing and pavement marking, riprap and other related work.

  • Construction hours will be weekdays from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
  • The posted speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 35 mph.
  • Delays up to 15 minutes.

ADOT reminds drivers to slow down, be prepared to stop and use caution around construction personnel and equipment.

Schedules are subject to change based on weather or other unforeseen factors.
