BULLHEAD CITY–The Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce is the home of a new bench commemorating the life and accomplishments of local resident and community volunteer, Jan Barrios.

Barrios was a valued member of the Chamber, and a long time Ambassador, who passed away in June 2017. Following her death, the community came together led by the Bullhead City/Mohave Valley Realtors Association, Pioneer Title, the Chamber of Commerce and Desert Lawn Funeral Home to honor Jan.

It was suggested by John Hassett at Desert Lawn that a bench in memorial would be a good idea. The committee agreed and began raising money for the bench. Desert Lawn took care of it from there and came up with this amazing piece. Hassett donated much of the cost, including the installation, as he had his crew place the bench.

The front is adorned with Jan’s likeness and the back includes the saying: She gave of her time because this community matters.

The community came together for this bench because she mattered. Thank you to all who contributed for this piece and Mr. Hassett and Desert Lawn for facilitating it. It’s a beautiful bench in a beautiful spot for a beautiful person. Stop by the Chamber of Commerce at 1251 Highway 95 in Bullhead City and see for yourself.
