SAN BERNARDINO—A threat of violence against the Needles Unified School District has been ruled by law enforcement as a hoax.
This recent threat joins others that occurred over the past few days in and around the county, according to a release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office.
The following school districts have received an e-mail threat: Colton Joint Unified, Fontana Unified, Helendale, Lucerne Valley Unified, Needles Unified, Redlands Unified, Rim of the World, and Yucaipa-Claimesa Joint Unified.
The press release states over the past couple of days, deputies throughout San Bernardino County have responded to local school districts regarding an e-mail threat of violence.
Investigators immediately responded and began working closely with members of the school districts, who have been very cooperative. Deputies are working with federal law enforcement agencies regarding these incidents, the release states.
SBCSO reports a number of rash of e-mail threats have occurred throughout the nation and investigations have determined them to be a hoax.
At this time, it appears there is no viable threat of violence at any school in the county, based off of the received email, SBCSO reports. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and all local and state law enforcement officers investigate every threat thoroughly and never take these incidents lightly.
