Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested Daniel Ray Phillips, 60 of Oakley, CA, for Aggravated Assault on an Officer, Resisting Arrest, both felonies, and Reckless Driving and Exceeding the Posted Speed Limit, both misdemeanors. On October 25, 2021 at 5:21 AM, deputies were driving on Highway 95 when they were passed by a by a white truck. Deputies began pacing the vehicle, and observed the truck was going approximately 80 MPH in a posted 55 MPH zone.

The truck was further observed leaving its designated lane and changing lanes without signaling. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Phillips. When asked about the speed limit in the area, Phillips became argumentative and uncooperative with deputies.

Due to the suspicion of impairment, Phillips was asked to step out of the vehicle and he refused. Deputies removed Phillips from the vehicle and placed him in restraints. While detained, Phillips continued to be belligerent with law enforcement and medical personnel. At one point, Phillips had positioned himself so he was laying beneath the back bumper of the deputy’s patrol vehicle, and when deputies attempted to move him, he kicked one of the deputies in the legs.

Due to Phillip’s behavior, he was transported to Valley View Medical Center for medical evaluation. Once cleared, Phillips was transported to the Mohave County Adult Detention Center in Kingman without further incident.
