OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING- LAKE HAVASU CITY
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred in Lake Havasu City on Thursday (12/10). At approximately 6:15 PM, a male subject, later identified as Jon Steven Douglas, 29 of Lake Havasu City, was observed inside a business in the 1700 block of Kiowa Ave. Douglas was known to have active felony arrest warrants and Lake Havasu City Police Department officers attempted to take Douglas into custody.
Douglas attempted to flee the scene and a struggle ensued with one of the officers. One officer discharged his weapon and struck Douglas, who was
later transported to a local hospital for his injuries, where he is listed in critical condition. No officers or other community members were injured in this incident. It was later determined that Douglas did not have a weapon in his possession at the time of the incident. This investigation is ongoing. It is protocol to have an outside agency investigate an officer-involved shooting incident. Two LHCPD officers are currently on administrative leave, which is also customary in an officer- involved shooting incident.
