The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred in the Cane Beds area on Saturday (7/25). Mohave County Dispatch received a call regarding a weapons offense where the caller reported hearing gunfire at a residence. Due to the nature of the call, the on-duty Mohave County Deputy requested assistance from the Colorado City Marshal’s Office (CCMO).

Officers with CCMO arrived on scene prior to the Mohave County Deputy. Upon arrival, the suspect reportedly pointed a firearm at the CCMO Officers. One officer fired one round at the suspect. As no Mohave County law enforcement personnel were on scene during the officer involved shooting, and the shooting occurred within Mohave County, Mohave County Detectives were requested to investigate the incident. The suspect, identified as Martin Lanard Black, 50 of Cane Beds, was released from the hospital
on Sunday (7/26) and was transported to the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility in Kingman. He is being charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and three counts of Aggravated Assault on an Officer, all felonies.
