Operation Restock the Food Bank

The Mayor’s Havasu Youth Advisory Council (HYAC), partners with the Havasu Community Health Foundation Food bank to host a food drive called “Operation Restock the Food Bank” during the month of March. Participating partners include LHUSD No. 1, Bashas’, Food City, and Smith’s Food and Drug; Parks and Recreation Afterschool programs; and all City departments.

In conjunction with the month long collection, HYAC will offer a drive-thru collection event at the end of March on Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at the food bank located at 1980 N Kiowa Boulevard. All are invited to join HYAC in donating canned food items to individuals and families in need within the community and dropping them off at the drive-thru event. No need to get out of your vehicles. Simply pack your trunk with the food donations, pull into the drive-thru, and pop the trunk; HYAC will do the rest. All non-perishable donations are welcome, but special requests this month are for canned meat, canned fruits and vegetables, canned beans and chili, canned tomatoes, pastas and sauces, soups and crackers, peanut butter, and cereal.

In October of 2020, HYAC partnered with the Chamber Foundation for Education and Leadership to host a socially distanced Drive-in Movie event to help raise funds for the food bank before the holidays. “Through their volunteerism and service, HYAC is passionate about giving than receiving, especially for those in need following the holidays with their Operation Restock the Food Bank food drive. I encourage all those who can, to donate to this worthy cause,” said Mayor Cal Sheehy.
