Late last Thursday (7/7), the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a family member concerned that their 59-year-old son has not returned after working on the west side of the Cerbat Mountains. He has been operating heavy equipment and is always home before it got dark. Family members were unable to locate him and he was not answering his phone, which led to the concern that he could be stranded and unable to call for help. Search and Rescue was activated and began a route and location search of the area. They located the equipment he had been operating and it was parked, with no indication of any accidents. His cell phone was pinged and came back with no location, as well. About 2am, searchers received a call from his father indicating that they made contact and the missing son was actually working on equipment at another location near Kingman – which had no cell service – and he was okay. Search teams returned to the Command Post. Great job by everyone!
