FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MOHAVE COUNTY, AZ (September 20, 2024) – Mohave County announces the commencement of construction for a pioneering effort targeted at reducing inmate recidivism. The official groundbreaking ceremony for the much-anticipated “Reach Out” facility will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 10 a.m at 501 W Highway #66, Kingman, AZ 86401.
The Reach Out facility serves as the tangible realization of a comprehensive re-entry program geared towards preventing re-incarceration of recently released inmates. The facility, equipped with a detox center, will provide a safe and secure environment for individuals needing assistance to rehabilitate or those mandated by the judicial system to undergo detoxification.
The Mohave County administration stands firmly behind this initiative, displaying a commitment to both the development and completion of the Reach Out facility. This endeavor involves a comprehensive Reach Out Initiative that includes the collaboration of key stakeholders from several sectors such as mental health, substance use, law enforcement, pretrial services, courts, jails, community corrections, housing, health, social services, family members, and others. This collective effort seeks to enhance cross-sector collaborations, aimed at reducing the involvement of individuals with mental and substance use disorders in the justice system.
Strategically located just steps from the release point of jail inmates, the new facility will provide immediate access to a re-entry program and detox center. This location allows for engagement with released inmates in real-time, swiftly connecting them with necessary services and assistance.
Additionally, the second floor of the facility is being purposefully designed to house a 12-bed medical detoxification facility, further addressing the substance use issues within the county community.
Aside from members of the public, a lineup of guest speakers including Board of Supervisors Chair Hildy Angius, Sheriff Doug Schuster, and County Manager Sam Elters, along with other supervisors and dignitaries, are expected to attend the ceremony.
Construction is slated for completion by July 2025. With a grand opening projected for the 4th quarter of 2025, this facility’s initiation marks a groundbreaking step towards Mohave County’s inmate rehabilitation efforts. Everyone is cordially invited to join the groundbreaking ceremony at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24, at 501 W Highway #66, Kingman, AZ 86401.
