The Bureau of Reclamation announced today that in order to maximize hydroelectric generation and assist in the stability of the regional electrical grid, Davis Dam is projected to increase to a 5-unit maximum release on Monday, August 17th and Tuesday, August 18th between the hours of 5pm – 9pm MDT.
Colorado River flows below Davis Dam are projected to peak during this time at approximately 24,200 cfs, more than 1,200 cfs higher than a typical 5-unit flow.
Although these releases fall within normal operational parameters, additional care should be exercised while boating and recreating on the Colorado River below Davis Dam.
