Bullhead City – The Bullhead City Fire Department would like to remind residents that open burning fires are illegal within the city limits. However, contained cooking and warming fires are allowed, following these strict guidelines.

  1. Must be 15′ from all structures, trees, awnings, power lines, property lines, and in an approved fire pit container.
  2. Cooking and warming fires must have constant supervision.
  3. Flames should not be excessive, and the wind shall be under ten (10) mph.
  4. A garden hose should be connected to a nearby water supply and readily available for use.

Always be mindful that dry grass burns quickly, windy conditions can cause a small fire to grow out of control in minutes.

A burning cigarette is a small fire ready to become larger. Never toss a cigarette on the ground or out of a vehicle window, be sure to extinguish and dispose of it appropriately.

Please note that burning trash, yard trimmings, and weeds is not permitted within city limits.

Open burning permits for properties greater than 5 acres and special events are available for a fee and require approval from the Fire Marshal. Burn permit applications can be found on our website at www.bullheadfire.org. For additional information, contact the Bullhead City Fire Department Community Risk Reduction Division at 928-758-3971.
