Residential Structure Fire

At approximately 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2020, a fire was reported by a family member in the 2000 block of Tradewind Dr. The family member called 911 when they observed a fire on a monitor in their father’s bedroom. A construction worker nearby discovered smoke coming from the house and rushed to the front door and kicked it in.

Two Lake Havasu City Police Officers entered the residence with the citizen and removed the elderly male from the structure. The first arriving fire company reported the house was filled with smoke and the elderly male needed immediate transport to the hospital. Four Engine Companies, one Truck Company, one Alternative Response Vehicle, and a Battalion Chief responded to the fire and gained control of the fire within 20 minutes.

The Fire Department ARV took the elderly male to the hospital. The two officers and citizen rescuer reported smoke inhalation; however, all three refused treatment. One firefighter reported a minor injury, but remained on duty. CERT responded to the fire to assist with Rehab duties for the firefighters. Crews remained on scene an additional two hours conducting salvage operations and fire investigation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

For further information, contact the on duty Battalion Chief at (928) 486-3507 or Terrie Haas, Fire Administration, at (928) 854-0758 for further information.
