Havasu Youth Advisory Council and Havasu Community Health Foundation #YOUmatter invite families with children ages 11 to 17 to join them on April 2, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Aquatic/Community Center gym for a Community Engagement night with Katey McPherson on the topics of Screens, Social Media, and Mental Health.

Katey McPherson is an educational consultant and speaker who has spent the past 23 years advocating for children as an educator, school administrator, and guidance counselor. She speaks extensively about Internet Safety, social media responsibility, and childhood brain development.

This FREE community workshop, sponsored by #YOUmatter, teaches what every parent needs to know about the often hidden impact of screen time and social media on your child’s wellness. Practical evidence-based strategies and tips to manage and supervise digital device use are offered.

A question and answer panel will follow the workshop, with Katey McPherson, Mayor Cal Sheehy, Judge Mitchell Kalauli, Police Chief Dan Doyle, Havasu Community Health Foundation Student Assistance Program Coordinator, Cami Castanon, and Sue Blayre-White from Mohave County Department of Public Health.

No RSVP required. If you have children on multiple mobile devices at home, or are thinking about giving your child a mobile device, you don’t want to miss out on this informational workshop.
