The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office would like the community to be aware of a phone scam going on in our area. We have received several calls into our dispatch center today with members of the community advising that a male subject, identifying himself as Sergeant David Blake with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Department, is calling to say they have an outstanding citation and a warrant has been issued. “Sergeant Blake” goes on to say that those warrants must be paid for immediately over the phone to avoid a potential arrest. The male subject spoke with a very thick southern accent. Several of our employees received these calls on their personal today phones as well.
Please know that the Sheriff’s Office WILL NOT call you and ask for payments or donations. We WILL NOT ask you to pay for a warrant with Zelle, Apple Pay, Venmo, or gift cards. If you receive these calls, we suggest you hang up the phone immediately and do not give out any personal information. Protect yourself, your assets, and your identity by not giving any information to these callers.
