BULLHEAD CITY—The Bullhead City/Laughlin Senior Games will be returning to the area for a third straight year of competition January 13-20, 2019.
Bullhead City Parks & Recreation staff is hard at work preparing to bring one of this year’s most exciting sporting events to the Colorado River community. Athletes 50 years of age or older will compete in a variety of sports in hopes of bringing the gold home.
Medals will be awarded for 12 different sports including 5K run, basketball skills, bowling, cornhole, golf, horeshoes, pickleball, powerlifting, softball, swimming, table tennis and track & field.
Each event will have winners for all age categories and many events will be divided into divisions based on age and skill.
“We’re beyond excited to be bringing this terrific event back for the third year,” said Dave Heath, Parks & Recreation Superintendent for the City of Bullhead City. “We grew from 150 athletes in year one to over 900 in year two. We’re planning on even greater growth for 2019.”
Anybody interested in registering for the 2019 Bullhead City/Laughlin Senior Games has until Dec. 20 to register. To register online, visit www.SeniorGames.co.
Heath added there is no limit for the number of sports in which a participant may compete.
“Last year, we had one gentleman who went home with 19 medals. He just kept going and it was truly inspirational,” Heath said.
There are also still opportunities for businesses to sponsor the event.
Anybody with interest should contact City of Bullhead City Sponsorship Coordinator Jackie Walker at 928-763-9400, ext. 246 or email her at jwalker@bullheadcity.com
