Shooting leads to Fatality

On Monday (4/5) at approximately 6:35 PM, Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the area of Cavalry Rd. and Dunlap Rd. in Fort Mohave. When Deputies arrived on scene, Fort Mojave Fire Department staff were treating the subject, Cody Richard Waltz, 40 of Apple Valley, CA, for a gunshot wound. Waltz was transported to Valley View Medical Center and later passed away from
his injuries.

Detectives responded to the scene and learned a firearm was being transferred to Waltz when the gun discharged. This is an active investigation. Upon completion of the investigation, it will be forwarded to and screened by the Mohave County Attorney’s Office.
