About Antares Point

Antares Point Visitor Center & Gift Shop is located on the longest curve on Route 66 at 9855 AZ-66, Kingman, AZ 86401 (between Valley Vista and Hackberry at mile marker 75). Originally built as a Shell gas station, restaurant, and land sales office. Purchased by local artist Gregg Arnold 20 years ago, it is now visitor center and gift shop for those traveling along the longest intact stretch of Route 66. Antares Point is also home to Giganticus Headicus a 14-foot-tall green tiki head and the Guardian of Route 66 a 16 foot tall statue.

About the Guardian of Route 66

The thought and inspiration behind the Guardian is the rebirth of route 66 that we see all up and down route 66 and especially in Kingman.

With her “follow me” optical illusion eyes, what better to symbolize the Mother Road than a powerful woman made from the pieces of what makes Route 66.

She is comprised of scrap metal, camels, cars, motorcycles, donkeys, route 66 shields, peace signs, kokopellis, and of course a little Giganticus Headicus lol.

Hopefully she’s an inspiration that what has been can be again, pieces of the past can be reshaped into the fabric of the future, and that everything and everyone deserves a second chance. Reshape the pieces of your past into a bright shiny future.
