Special Box Art & Paper Marbling Classes and more at the ArtHub through June:

“Japanese Stab Binding,” “Folded Portfolio Box Workshop,” “Paper Marbling Workshop,” an “Exploring Acrylics” class and two FREE art classes for students are offered this coming June! All of the classes will take place at the ArtHub at 402 E. Beale Street, downtown Kingman. (Sign-up link at bottom.)

In the “Japanese Stab Binding” workshop students will learn basic bookbinding techniques, including cutting and gluing papers and book cloth, as well as punching pages and covers for binding. Also taught will be techniques for neat gluing (which is always a challenge) and the basics of wrapping the board to make the cover.

In the “Folded Portfolio Box” class students will construct a folded portfolio box with a cigar band closing. Baskic bookbinding/box construction techniques will be covered.

The “Paper Marbling Workshop” will present the basics of a centuries-old, water-based technique of paper decoration called “Ebru Marbling.”

All of the bookmaking and the marbling class will be taught by artist and instructor, Pat Evans, who has spent over a decade studying with national and international calligraphers and book artists. She is a member of the Mohave Artists and Craftsmen Guild and former Board Member of Kingman Center for the Arts and The Fabulous Las Vegas-Scribes.

“Exploring Acrylics” is an introduction to acrylic painting class taught in a step by step fashion by artist Rob Bagge. At the end of the class, all students will have a completed painting to take home with them.

Two FREE “Create” Workshops are also offered – one for ages 11-14 and one for ages 14-18. CREATE is a special education program for youth that teaches how art can be used as a coping skill for life’s challenges. Several artists from the Beale Street Theater and ArtHub will help students explore different ways that art can enhance their life.

No experience is necessary and all supplies needed are included for each of the classes.

Sign-up and more details on all of these art classes can be found at:
