BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. – September 5, 2023 – Bullhead City Police detectives arrested Jess Moorlag, 40, for stabbing a man who was fishing at the Colorado River.
On Thursday, August 31st at about 12:40 a.m., police were called to an aggravated assault in the area of Riverfront Drive and Yale Drive, where a male victim had been stabbed by an unknown man.
The 42-year-old male victim ran to a home nearby yelling for help. The victim had lost a significant amount of blood from a deep stab wound to his calf. He also had multiple other lacerations on his body. When police arrived on scene, officers administered a tourniquet to his leg. Bullhead City Fire Paramedics transported the victim to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center, and he was later airlifted to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, NV for further treatment. The suspect had fled the scene.
Through further investigation, police learned that the male suspect, who was later identified as Jess William Moorlag, felt disrespected that the victim wouldn’t call him by his preferred nickname. The victim and the suspect did not know each other but had been by the river together. Moorlag reportedly slashed the victim’s vehicle tires and then assaulted the victim with the knife when the victim confronted him.
