The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office has been conducting undercover sting operations around Mohave County for the past several months. The operation targets individuals who are using the internet to lure minors for sexual exploitation. As a result of the most recent operation, one individual has been arrested.
Sean David Rix, 53 of Las Vegas, NV, was arrested by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for warrants issued by Mohave County Sheriff’s Office for two counts of Attempted Commercial Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. Rix, who was employed by the Clark County School District at the time of his arrest, was transferred into the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility on Wednesday (8/21).
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office is an active member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC). Training was provided by ICAC which greatly aided in the success of these operations.
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind parents in Mohave County to monitor their children’s internet usage. The internet can be a wonderful tool, but can also be a path for offenders to gain access to your children. It is recommended that parents limit their child’s social media presence, as well as maintain constant communication about the hazards of communicating with anyone online.
