The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office has been conducting undercover sting operations around Mohave County for the past several months. The operation targets individuals who are using the internet to lure minors for sexual exploitation. As a result of the most recent operation, two individuals have been arrested.

On Tuesday (8/20), Shane Adam McHone, 29 of Kingman, was arrested for four counts of Luring a Minor under the age of 15 for Sexual Exploitation, two counts of Attempted Commercial Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, Attempted Sexual Contact with a Minor, and Furnishing Obscene Material to a Minor, all felonies.

Also Jay K Lawler, 45 of Laughlin, NV, was arrested for Luring a Minor under the age of 15 for Sexual Exploitation, Attempted Commercial Exploitation of a Minor, and Attempted Sexual Conduct with a Minor, all felonies.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office is an active member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC). Training was provided by ICAC which greatly aided in the success of these operations.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind parents in Mohave County to monitor their children’s internet usage. The internet can be a wonderful tool, but can also be a path for offenders to gain access to your children. It is recommended that parents limit their child’s social media presence, as well as maintain constant communication about the hazards of communicating with anyone online.
