About 4pm last Thursday (10/6), the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office received a call for help from a 27-year-old male motorist when his KIA 4-door sedan had become stuck on a dirt road crossing a wash – near Signal, Arizona. He was with his 27-year-old wife and they were heading to see Eagle Point at the west side of the Grand Canyon. They were visiting from the Dominican Republic on their honeymoon and had rented a car and used its GPS to navigate to Eagle Point – which was attempting to navigate them to a different Eagle Point in Mohave County – located near the Arrastra Mountain Wilderness area, on the way to Alamo Lake. Not understanding the difference between the two locations, they began their journey. At one point, they turned on a two-track jeep trail that ended up crossing a wash – in which they became stuck in their KIA sedan. Search and Rescue was activated and began a route and location search. They were quickly located (and very grateful). Search teams help them with their navigation system and got them back on route to where they wanted to go.
