LAKE HAVASU CITY–A 17-year-old driver was airlifted to a Las Vegas hospital over the weekend after a single vehicle rollover crash along London Bridge Road.
Lake Havasu City Police Sgt. Tom Gray said emergency personnel were dispatched Saturday, Jan. 5 around 1:15 a.m. to London Bridge Road, near Vista del Lago Loop for reports of a single vehicle crash involving three people.
Investigations conducted by the police department’s Crash Unit showed the 2001 silver Ford F-150 was reportedly traveling in the southbound direction on London Bridge Road when the driver failed to negotiate a right-hand curve. The truck reportedly drifted to the left and struck a curb, which resulted in causing the truck to roll and leave the roadway.
Sgt. Gray said the three occupants of the truck sustained minor to life-threatening injuries.
The male teen driver was ejected from the truck and airlifted to a Las Vegas hospital for further treatment. A 23-year-old male sitting in the front seat sustained minor injuries and taken to Havasu Regional Medical Center, while another 23-year-old male passenger riding in the bed of the truck sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to HRMC and remains hospitalized.
Neither the teen nor his passenger were wearing a seatbelt. While the crash remains under investigation, Sgt. Gray said speed and alcohol are believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.
