In Lieu of the annual Connie Davis 5k Walk & Roll event, the first fundraising event of each year under normal circumstances, the Laughlin Chamber put together a ‘Raffle for the Cause’ to raise money for the River Fund Inc.’s Cancer Connection, profiting over 3k. All funds raised during this event will stay in the Colorado River Region.
LAUGHLIN – The first Saturday in March has, for the last 7 years, been dedicated to the annual Connie Davis 5k Walk & Roll for Cancer. This event, brought to you by the Laughlin Chamber of Commerce and dedicated local sponsors and volunteers, is the single event held each year in which proceeds are donated directly to the River Fund, Inc. Cancer Connection. These funds are allocated for those in need of assistance for medical transportation, medical supplies/therapies etc. and all funds stay local. This event, in recent years, has raised and donated upwards of $15k to The River Fund, Inc. Cancer Connection each April and is presented to the River Fund Board of Directors at the Laughlin Chamber’s Backyard Mixer – welcoming Spring. Though the Backyard Mixer is not in the works, the Laughlin Chamber will still be donating a large check to the Board of Directors in the coming weeks.
“The CD5KW&R ‘in-person’ event did not take place this March, so we wanted to open the opportunity to donate to its worthy cause. Pledge coupons, or raffle tickets, were awarded to those who donated $25 or more in place of their typical event registration fee.” Said Jackie Mazzeo Wallin, President/CEO.
Those raffle tickets then entered you into the CD5KW Raffle for a Cause. The raffle was held Friday, April 2nd, just before the Easter holiday. Winners were announced via the Laughlin Chamber Newsletter E-blast as well as the Laughlin Nevada Times. Some of the prizes included complimentary stays at Riverside, Aquarius, and Edgewater Resorts, Dinner Cruise aboard the Celebration, Dining gift certificates for Outback Steakhouse, Javalina’s Coffee Express and Culver’s of Bullhead City, Visa Gift Cards and the grand prize, a 55” TCL 4k Smart TV.
Debbie’s Dispensary, Renaissance Realty, 220 Tours, Aquarius & Edgewater Casino Resorts, Riverside Resort Casino, Laughlin River Tours, Totally Awesome Printing, Javalina’s Coffee Express, Bruce’s Taste of Chicago, Blue Umbrella Pool, Culver’s of Bullhead City, The Market at Laughlin, Kathleen Whitehead, Judy Critz, Joyce Moreno, Billy Kay, Grace Black and to all those who have donated to this amazing and worthy cause!
