BULLHEAD CITY–Come show off your fishing skills during the “Best of the West” Fishing Derby. The event will be held June 23 and June 24 along the Colorado River.
The Bullhead City Recreation Department is partnering up with Anderson Auto Group and the Boys & Girls Club of the Colorado River for this event. Anderson Auto Group is offering free youth entries to the first twenty-five youth anglers registered through Boys & Girls Club of the Colorado River. Plus, a $500 prize pool for registered anglers under the age of 18 that consists of first place $150, second place $75 and third place $25 in each category.
“Our team has been working hard to bring this event to the City, we are grateful to Anderson Auto Group for their support.” commented Jeff Tipton, Director of Human Services.
Registered Derby anglers can fish the Colorado River from “dam to bridge” for their chance to reel in the largest striper or catfish for cash. “Dam to bridge” is defined as the Davis dam to the Avi bridge.
Anglers can compete in two categories largest striper and largest catfish; prizes will be awarded to the top three in each category. The adult angler prize pool pays $500 for first place, $300 for second place and $200 for third place in each category.
All vessel types are welcome: boats, jet skis, kayaks, tubes, and standup paddle boards and shore fishing with proper Arizona and/or Nevada fishing license. Participating anglers must have their official event wristband on their arm during the event, weigh in and awards ceremony to win.
Registration is now open online at www.bullheadcity.com and the cost is $15 per angler, per category, plus processing fees. Online registration ends today at 5 p.m.
Onsite registration, fish weigh in and the Derby awards ceremony will be located at Rusty’s Riviera Marina, 520 Riviera Blvd. Onsite registration will be $25 per angler, per category. Each registered fisher is automatically entered into the event raffle; additional raffle tickets will be available for purchase onsite.
