MOHAVE VALLEY–A burglary suspect was apprehended Thursday after several tips led to his identity.
David Noah Vanleuven, 46, of Mohave Valley, is facing third-degree burglary for allegedly cutting the locks off a business property and removing a large metal stand.
Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said on Sept. 14 deputies were dispatched to the business for a burglary report. Surveillance video reportedly showed a male subject driving up to the property on an all-terrain vehicle and cutting the locks off the property gate. He is than observed driving inside the property and cutting, and removing, a large metal stand by attaching it to his ATV. The suspect left with the stand on his ATV.
Mortensen said her agency received several tips in regards to this incident after a “Public’s Assist” press release was issued earlier this week. One of the tips led deputies to a male subject, later identified as Vanleuven, who reportedly admitted to cutting the lock and taking the items. Vanleuven reportedly told the deputies he thought it was his friends property who he alleged told him he “could take whatever he needed”, said Mortensen.
Vanleuven was taken to the Mohave County jail in Kingman.
Its amazing how you have turned something in to something it wasnt. Before anyone even contacted me there where brand new pieces returned. There was no arrest i turned myself in to rectify the situation,so everything you all have written to make out to be some hard criminal is so untrue.
