TOPOCK – Steven Sagon Receives Lifesaving Award

On Tuesday (2/19) at approximately 6 PM, Sheriff Doug Schuster issued a Citizen Lifesaving Award to Steven Sagon, 34 of Saskatchewan, Canada. The award was presented to Mr. Sagon by Undersheriff Trafecanty and Sergeant Cox. On February 2, 2019, Mr. Sagon was at the Topock Restaurant when he observed a vehicle crash through a cement barrier and careen over the side of the parking area, landing upside down and partially submerged in the water of the Topock Marsh. Mr. Sagon quickly reacted by entering the water to assist the 68 year old female occupant. After freeing the woman from her seatbelt, Mr. Sagon was able to drag her to safety to await medical attention. On behalf of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, we thank Mr. Sagon for his efforts in saving the woman’s life.
