LAKE HAVASU CITY–Ever wanted to know how the city water and wastewater treatment plants work? Next week, in celebration of National Public Works Week, the Lake Havasu City Operations Department will be providing tours to the city airport and wastewater plants.

National Public Works Week will run from May 20 through May 26. Tours will be available Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and limited to 12 riders each day, first come, first-served basis. Attendees must register prior to the tour.

“The Power of Public Works” theme for the 2018 National Public Works gives voice to the impact the many facets of public works have on modern civilization. From providing clean water to disposing of solid waste, to building roads and bridges or planning for and implementing mass transit, to removing snow on roadways or devising emergency management strategies to meet natural or manmade disasters, public works services determine a society’s quality of life. This year’s theme honors the vital contribution public works professionals make every day to communities all across North America, and it invites the public to celebrate their quiet dedication and indispensable influence on our way of life.

For more information and to register for a tour, contact Mark Clark at the Operations Department at 928-855-3377.
