TRAINING: ASARCA TRACKER 3 AND TRACKER 2

On Saturday (11/12), the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue had a full day of training in Kingman. Searchers began with Arizona Search and Rescue Coordinators Association (ASARCA) Tracker 3, introducing the fundamentals of tracking to include – mental preparedness, clue awareness and preservation, tracking and personal equipment, line searches and the functional organization of the tracking team. Upon completion of the classroom instruction, members went into the field where evaluations and additional training was provided.

After lunch, searchers attended an ASARCA Tracker 2 that expands the skills for the searcher in tracking to include – how to be a tracking team leader and learning advanced techniques of human and vehicles tracking, use of artificial light sources, sign cutting, clue awareness, indexing (aging tracks), and preservation. Searchers were also taught principals of a route and location search. Upon completion of the classroom instruction, members went into the field where evaluations and additional training was provided.
