On Saturday (4/9), searchers with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue units participated in joint training with the Kingman DPS Air Rescue Ranger helicopter and personnel. The training included a presentation by DPS on helicopter safety operations, hands on with the helicopter and its equipment and “hot loading” – the loading and unloading of searchers while the helicopter’s rotors are turning. Searchers also trained on ingress and egress operations using one skid and at a hover above the ground. DPS Ranger helicopters can get into tight and remote locations and frequently assist searchers during search and rescue operations. It was a great day of training!
