Trespassing Call Uncovers Drugs Inside Motel Room

LAKE HAVASU CITY–Three people are behind bars after a trespassing investigation Tuesday led to drugs inside a motel room.

Rick Varner, 50, of Phoenix, was arrested on suspicion of possession of dangerous drugs, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and a failure to comply warrant. He was additionally charged with introduction of contraband into a jail facility after being found to be concealing a small metal container with marijuana on his person.

Sarah N. Jarrett, 23, of Lake Havasu City, was arrested on suspicion of possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing. She was additionally charged with introduction of contraband into a jail facility after being found to be concealing a small pocket knife on her person.

Jorge Suarez, 44, of Phoenix, was arrested on suspicion of possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Lake Havasu Police Lt. Tom Gray said officers were dispatched to a motel room in the 300 block of London Bridge Road shortly before noon on Wednesday after a report was made there were three people trespassing the property.

Gray said during the investigation, police noticed items of illegal drug paraphernalia sitting in plain view. The motel room was secured pending a search warrant.

A search of the motel later that afternoon by detectives with with Lake Havasu Police Special Investigations Unit uncovered several grams of methamphetamine and marijuana, as well as numerous items of drug paraphernalia associated with the sale of illegal drugs.

All three were taken to the Mohave County jail in Kingman. Varner and Jarrett are being held on $50,000 bond; while Suarez is being held on $1,000 bond.
