On Wednesday (2/12) at approximately 4 PM, Mohave County Sherriff’s Office Deputies responded to the area of Van Nuys Rd. and Northern Ave. in Kingman in reference to an unknown injury crash. A blue 2020 Chevy truck was traveling west on Northern Ave. when it is suspected that the driver suffered a medical episode, causing him to accelerate to a high rate of speed. The truck left the roadway and struck multiple mailboxes, advertisement banners and a business sign pole with a concrete foundation along the north side of Northern Ave. The bed of the truck was ripped from the frame and landed on the south side of Northern Ave. after striking the pole. The truck continued west, spinning several times before colliding with a business at the corner of Van Nuys Rd. and Northern Ave.
The 65 year old male driver was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center and sustained minimal injuries due to wearing his seatbelt and airbag deployment. Several citizens stopped to assist and traffic was diverted around the scene for approximately 2 hours due to the large amount of debris in the roadway. No business owners, employees, or pedestrians were harmed during this incident. A vehicle at one of the businesses sustained minor damage from a mailbox that was struck and became airborne. The crash team responded and took over the investigation.
